Consider the Lilies as sung by Elder Rasmussen

Consider the Lilies is one of Sister Msane's favorite songs.  I love it too.  And so does Elder Rasmussen (one of our wonderful KNM missionaries) and so does his mother.  He mentions his mother every time he sings it for us.

I've heard the Tabernacle Choir sing it and it is a beautiful song taken from the scripture in Matthew 6:28.  The story of how it came to be written is inspiring.  Read it at https://www.mormontabernaclechoir.org/articles/consider-the-lilies-history.html .  The song will mean even more once you read about it, especially the last verse.  So many children suffer on this earth but He, our Saviour, will heal them.

I've tried recording Elder Rasmussen singing it a couple of times.  Hopefully this time I have succeeded.  My only regret is that I should have asked those in the room to be a little quiet while I recorded.  I don't think they realized I was recording.  I've broken it into three videos because one was too big to load into this post.  So below are three videos, one video for each verse.

Consider the Lilies

by Roger Hoffman

Consider the lilies of the field,
How they grow, how they grow.
Consider the birds in the sky,
How they fly, how they fly.
He clothes the lilies of the field.
He feeds the birds in the sky.
And He will feed those who trust Him,
And guide them with His eye.

Consider the sheep of His fold,
How they follow where He leads.
Though the path may wind across the mountains,
He knows the meadows where they feed.
He clothes the lilies of the field.
He feeds the birds in the sky,
And He will feed those who trust Him,
And guide them with His eye.

Consider the sweet, tender children
Who must suffer on this earth.
The pains of all of them He carried
From the day of His birth.
He clothes the lilies of the field,
He feeds the lambs in His fold,
And He will heal those who trust Him,

And make their hearts as gold.
